Happy Holidays!

We hope that everyone had a great Christmas. We sure did. We got some alone family time in the morning, spent the afternoon with Richard's family and the evening with my family. It was a long day but was great that we were able to see everyone. Evelyn enjoyed Christmas and all the gifts.

Here is her is her outfit from Great Grandma Yvonne and Great Grandpa Fred. It is the cutest thing I have ever seen (if I do say so myself).

How cute is this?

Day 2 of no bottles...

Evelyn has been without bottles for 2 days now and is doing great. She kinda weaned herself from them when she didnt want to take naps with having one before anymore. We decided to try at bedtime as well and she does great. Now we just cuddle and/or read and book before laying her down in her crib.

Hopefully this continues and we will no longer have to clean her bottles just the little ones from time to time.

Have a good night.

One more thing there was an explosion a few miles from our house today that I felt and scared the you know what out of me. It was so loud and such a huge bang I thought someone rammed into our house. Here is the news link http://www.kcra.com/news/18354980/detail.html

Scary. I hope everyone is safe.

Thank You Camille

Dear Camille,

Thank you for sleeping in your pack n play all night last night. Mommy needed the sleep laying down and not worrying about you. I hope that this trend continues as I am sure we both sleep better.

I love you and can't wait for Christmas morning with you.

Love,

Mommy

Gearing up for Christmas!

Christmas is only a few days away and we are ready ( I think). We have everything bought and wrapped so it is just a matter or passing them out and celebrating. My family is coming up Thursday or Friday and will be here for the weekend. I can't wait.

Christmas morning we are spending alone as a family. I want this to be a tradition in the years to come. We can get up, open presents and have breakfast all in our pajamas. I am looking forward to Christmas this year with our two girls. Evelyn will lots of fun opening gifts and Camille will probably sleep but look like an angel while doing so.

There is not much left to do other than clean house. That should go fairly quickly, nice thing about a small house. I will try to do a little each day while the girls let me and by Thursday hopefully there will be nothing left to do.

I wish everyone Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy Holidays! Please be safe!

Dear Camille,

Mommy would like to start sleeping lying down. If you could please go and stay asleep on your back I would really appreciate it. I love you and I love holding you but sleeping while holding you is hard on mommy. Is there any way I can help you sleep on your back, if so I will try anything. I love you.

Love,
Mommy

1st Day ALONE!

Well, I survived the first day alone with the girls. Richard went back to work so I had them both all day. I did great if I do say so myself. I didn't even cry or get frustrated at either of them. It is still a transition but we are doing great, if only I could get Camille to sleep on her back in the pack n play.

I am also proud to say that I ventured out into the world with two kids on my own. We went to the grocery store and Costco. I did ok but still have to figure out the best way to get both girls in and out of the car. In time I will master that as well.

Hope everyone is doing well. I will try to take and post more pictures soon.

Evelyn's New Favorite Toy!

Last night Richard was making dinner and I was doing laundry (I know let the house work go, but I can't), Evelyn was eating a few Cheerios before dinner and the next thing I hear is "noooooooo" and the sound of the Cheerios being poured out of the box onto the floor. Evelyn loved it and thought it was hilarious. Here are a couple of pictures.
Otherwise, things are going good. We are trying to get Camille to sleep in the pack n play instead of on me, so hopefully that will be easy. She is doing good and eating well. We have to get some followup blood work done this week but otherwise she is doing great. We are enjoying our TWO girls.

Camille Karen

Camille Karen was born December 3rd, 2008. She weighed 9lbs 3 oz (big girl) and was 20 inches long. She is absolutely beautiful.

My labor was great and I was in the zone (according to Richard and Cheryl). I was able to go without meds again and had another great birth experience. Sometimes I think the birthing is easier than the parenting.

We are doing ok. Tired but okay. We are happy to have her home with us. She had to stay in the Special Care Nursery while we were at the hospital because of some complications but she is well now and doing great.

Evelyn is adjusting well, but doesn't like it when Camille cries and if she is sleeping wakes up because of it. This makes for short naps. We will get there. Next year at this time we will have a one year old and wonder where the time went.

We are in love. Here is the link to some pictures we have uploaded. More to come soon. Enjoy!

No baby yet...

but there is an end in sight. I had a dr. appointment today and although there is a little (very little) progress and the babies head is low not much else is happening. My dr. is not comfortable with me going more than a week past my due date so we are scheduled for an induction Wednesday, December 10th at 7:30 in the morning. I am praying that it will happen before than as I do not want to be induced. So please wish, hope, think, or pray that this baby comes on its own before next Wed. Everything else is going great.

We had a great Thanksgiving and Evelyn is wonderful as always. We are spending as much time with her as we can before the baby comes. She is an amazing little girl and we feel so blessed to have her in our lives.

We will keep everyone informed and hopefully we will have a baby soon.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope that everyone has a great Thanksgiving and enjoys spending time with family and friends. I will post pics later of Evelyn and us at Thanksgiving.

Mom, dad, grandma, grandpa and Tyler it was nice talking to you this morning. Evelyn enjoyed seeing you guys as well.

Love you all.

39 Weeks

We are at T-minus 7 days until I am due with baby #2. I had an appointment today and nothing is happening still, which is fine by me. I am doing pretty well, although getting comfortable at night is getting harder. Richard laughs at all my grunts and deep breaths as I try to roll over in bed. If you can't laugh, what fun is life?

I am hoping this baby doesn't come until at least December 2nd becuase my doctor is out on vacation and I really want him to be the one to deliver. So please say a little prayer that this baby with not come until at least next Tuesday. Another reason I want to wait is tomorrow night is a dessert party and Thursday is Thanksgiving, neither of which I want to miss.

Good Night.

Busy Weekend!

This was a busy and accomplished weekend. Friday, Evelyn and I went with Grandma Lavon to the Harvest Festival and did some shopping. Evelyn enjoyed all the pretty things and the man on stilts who made her a balloon bear. I bought my toffee for Richard and I that I do every year, man is that stuff good! I didn't get much else as we are not needing and nothing really caught me eye.

Saturday was busy cleaning the house. We got soooo much accomplished. The house looks and feels GREAT! I am definetly nesting as I can't clean enough. Saturday night we went and got our double stroller and mattress for the new baby. I LOVE the new stroller. It is the Chicco Trevi double stroller. Evelyn loves it and plays in it for a while with her dolly. It is really cute. Then we went to dinner with Lavon and then headed over to Mark and Cheryl's for some dessert. Poor Evelyn did not get a second nap and was up from 11am until 8:30pm. She was a trooper and did great.

Sunday (today) we cleaned a little more and then I had a mini baby shower with Lavon and Elaine. We went to lunch with no kid or husband, which is a nice treat. After we met Evelyn and Richard at Lavon's for cake and presents. The baby got a couple of warm sleepers so when it comes it won't be cold. It was a very nice and thoughtful thing to do and I appreciated and enjoyed it very much.

It was a busy and great weekend. Now onto Thanksgiving. Will I make it?

If you want to post comments or email me your predicitions about this baby please do so... you can include guesses on gender, date of birth, weight, and height. We can see who is the closest.

Mandy Dr. Appt.

Well I had my weekly dr. appt. yesterday and everything is still going well. My blood pressure is good and the baby sounds great. It is head down and ready to go, but the dr. doesn't think it will happen too soon, which is fine by me. I am feeling pretty good still but still feel like there is a ton of things to do still. I think that the baby will come after Dec.1st but we will see.

15 Month Appointment

Evelyn had her 15 month appointment today. It went great. She is developing right on track and doing very well. She weighs 20.4lbs with clothes and shoes on so we guess about 19lbs 14 oz without. She is also 31 inches tall. She is 10% for weight and 77% for height. Dr. Brandle seems very pleased with the way things are going and told us to "keep up the great work." We are now going to start working on getting rid of the bottle. I just don't want too many changes before the baby comes so I might try after, but we will see.

Hope everyone had a happy Monday!

Surprise...

My parents surprised me this weekend with a quick visit. We went to the bagel shop to get coffee for Richard before going to Apple Hill and as we were walking up I thought I saw my dad which is of course odd, but sure enough it was them. They left at 2 in the morning to come up and see us. It was great. We went to Apple Hill and they had a great time with Evelyn and Evelyn had a wonderful time with them as well. It was a short visit but I am sooooo happy that I was able to see them one more time before the baby comes. Here are some pictures from Apple Hill. Enjoy!

How stinking cute is this?

Finalizing Plans

Well the baby is due in about 4 weeks. I can hardly believe it. We are getting the last few things ready for the baby and setting up stuff for Evelyn. It is a lot harder to plan when you already have one child. I was induced with Evelyn but if I go into labor on my own it changes how things work and who will watch her. I know that it will all work out.

Me being my organized self has typed up a schedule, menu, and routine for Evelyn so that when my parents watch her they have an idea of her schedule. I think it is more for me than them. They know what they are doing. I have also put together a list of contact, maps to the hospital and the vets, just in case. I think I am over thinking things. Me? Never.

I am just worried about being gone from Evelyn for a couple of days. That hasn't happened before and I am sad I won't be here with her. It will be odd not having her around me all the time. I do think that I will be a little busy with the new baby so that will help.

I am going to the dr. once a week now. I went on Tuesday. Everything looks great. Baby is doing well and moving ALL THE TIME! I am feeling pretty good although my hips hurt a lot and by the end of the day I am pretty tired. Richard is great and helps with Evelyn when he gets home.

Soon we will be a family of 4 and a dog and that is overwhelming and exciting all at the same time. Please keep us and our new baby in your thoughts and prayers. We are not yet ready for its arrival but are definetly looking forward to finding out if it is a boy or a girl. My bet is still on girl and Richard's is still on boy. So we shall see.

Hope this post finds everyone in good health.

Thank you Hubby!

Richard suggested trying to get a new layout using Firefox instead of Internet Explorer and it worked instantly. I will now be changing my template from time to time. Yeah for figuring it out.

I did it..

I finished the Harry Potter series tonight. Man, that was a good last book. Now I have to wait for Richard to catch up so we can discuss. I am glad I was able to finish before this baby came along as I didn't get to before Evelyn came along so I had to start all over.

I won't ruin it for those who have not read it yet, but there are some crazy and interesting things that happen and you start to understand things from the past. It was great.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. We have been Christmas shopping and tomorrow we are visiting some friends we do not see often enough.

Nesting...

I think I am nesting in anticipation of the new babies arrival. Yesterday I cleaned the whole house and did laundry. Usually, I can only do a little bit but yesterday I had a ton of energy. Then when Richard got home he took Evelyn for a bike ride while I made a nice dinner without interuptions. It was great. I turned up the music danced, sang and cooked.

After dinner, I did the dishes and then cleaned out the closets in Evelyn's and the new babies room. By the end of all this I was tired but felt very accomplished. Richard even commented on how nice it was to come home to a clean house and him not have to do much.

On another note: Sandy had to go to the Vet on Monday because she was limping and her front right paw was bleeding. They found a wart like cluster on her paw so she is on antibotics and hopefully that will help. If it doesn't, she may need surgery to remove it. Hopefully that won't be neccessary.

Here are a couple of pictures of Evelyn:

Weekend Update

Saturday, Richard and I had our hospital tour at Mercy General where I will be delivering this time. It is nice but a little outdated. We at least now know where to go when the time comes. The way they make up for having to share a room is a 7 course meal after delivery. It can include Filet Mignon, dessert, wine and other yummy things. I am very much looking forward to this meal. I deserve it after all that work. :0)

We met another couple that had a daughter born on Evelyn's birthday and is due the day before me. Crazy! I guess we are not the only people wanting them close in age.

Saturday night we went to Lavon's for a Halloween meal. Evelyn dressed up as an Olvera St. Mexican Girl (too bad she is sooo white). She had her dress and maracas and looked cute. It was a good time and she even got to enjoy a cookie for dessert. She loved it. Maybe that is why she was talking in her crib for a while after going to bed. :0)

Sunday, Evelyn and I went to a baby shower for a dear friend. We had a great time and Evelyn was wonderful. She did so well with just a short nap. She was cute as a button and very well behaved. I even got a couple of comments on how well behaved she is and how well she listens. I guess we are doing something right for now.

Other than that we just took it easy and got some things done around the house. It was a nice and pleasant weekend. I hope everyone had a great weekend as well. I will post more pictures soon.

Crazy

Sorry I have not posted lately, things have been very crazy. Evelyn and I got back from a week in So. Cal for my brother's wedding. It was a great time and we were able to spend some good time with Yaya and grandpa. I am glad that we were able to go and it worked out really well.

The wedding was wonderful and beautiful. I have about 250 pictures but have to go through and post some of them. There are some good shots in there. I can't believe my little brother is married and not living at home anymore. Hard to believe. Evelyn did great during the wedding and reception. She was passed around like candy on Halloween and didn't care. It was great because I didn't have to hold her much and people got to spend some good time with her. The downside is now she is sick with a cold. We ran her pretty hard last week with few naps and long days. Hopefully she will be back to her normal self soon.

Other than that, I had a dr. appt. on Monday and everything is good. Only 6 weeks left to go believe it or not. We are starting to prep here to get ready for the new arrival. Evelyn is in her new room and is doing good in there (other than being sick). I will post pictures of her new room soon. I LOVE it, hopefully she does too.

That's the quick update (heehee). I will post pictures soon or at least a link to pictures soon.

Dr. Appointment Update

I had a dr. appointment on Tuesday and was lucky enough to have Richard accompany me. Everything went well and is on schedule. I asked the position of the baby just so I knew what I was feeling where, I know that the position can still change. He decided that the best way to know for sure was an ultrasound so he gave us one right then and there. It was great to see the baby again since it has been since our 20 week ultrasound. The baby is measuring right on target and the dr. seems to think that the weight will be similiar to Evelyn's at birth which was 7lb. 11 oz. That makes me think even more that it is a girl since boys are usually bigger. We shall see in about 8-10 weeks.

After we went to dinner with some friends that also had a dr. appointment in the afternoon. They have a little boy a few months older than Evelyn so it worked out great. It is always nice hanging out with other families. I go back in about 3 weeks for another visit. I am now going in every 2 weeks (this time is it 3 because my brothers getting married). It is getting closer and starting to get a little more freaked out about having 2.

Have a goodnight.

New Accomplishments for Evelyn

Evelyn is thriving and continuing to melt our hearts everyday. She is learning about body parts and can point to her ears, belly button, and feet. She can also find them on other people, as well as their nose. She is having a hard time reaching her own nose but it is cute when she grabs yours.

She is also learning about the sounds animals make and can make a few of her own sounds. She can say "mooooo" sometimes it sounds like "ooooo" she is still working on the "mmmm" part. When asked what does the frog say, she says "rrrrr." It is so cute. We will continue to work on others like dog and cat but we are enjoying cow and frog for the time being.

Her last new trick is "knock knock." She goes around knocking on everything and smiling like it is the greastest thing in the world. She especially loves to knock on her own head and the fence down the street she passes on our nightly stroll.

Hope all is well for everyone.

Update on baby #2: I have an appointment tomorrow for a regular checkup and Richard is going with me this time. This baby is VERY active and kicks all the time. I am still feeling girl but who knows. I am about 31 weeks so it is getting close. I can't believe I will soon be a mother of 2. We are getting Evelyn's big girl room ready and finalizing some other things before this baby comes one of which is Christmas shopping. I am hoping/planning on having it done by Thanksgiving becuase I am NOT doing it once the baby is here. Hopefully I can get it done or everyone is getting gift cards. :0)

Boo...

I think I am the only one on Blogger that cannot change the background to another template. I have tried numerous times and it NEVER works. Richard even looked at the code and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't work. All you do is copy and paste, yet mine poops out and comes up with an error code every time. Enjoy the cool templates. I am going to stick to the ones blogger provides.

Boy Names!

Boy names are proving to be very hard for us to come up with. We have a girl name ready to go but cannot find a boy name that we LOVE. Any suggestions would be helpful. The middle name is Joel and we like the idea of the first name starting with an R so the initials are RJB like Richard's.

Please send any name recommendations my way. We still have 10 weeks but it is slowly (or quickly depending on the day) going by and soon enough our little bundle will here.

With my luck we will have spent hours finding a boy name and it will be a girl. Oh Well. It will be worth it if we find a name that we love.

Happy Name Hunting.

Family Reunion

This past Sunday we had a family reunion with Richard's side of the family. We had a great time and enjoyed seeing people we do not see very often. Evelyn did great. She had a 2 1/2 hour nap before going and good thing becuase that was the only one she got yesterday (other than the 5 minutes she dozed off in the car). Everyone enjoyed seeing her walk and talk, which she does a lot of these days. I am adding a couple of pictures that have us and her in them. Enjoy. Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Congrats!

Congrats to my brother Scott and soon to be Sister-in-law Nicole on closing on their first condo. I am so happy for you both. It will be nice to start your marriage off in a place you can call home and make your own. We look forward to seeing it when we come down in a few weeks. We love you both and couldn't be happier for you.

What we have been up to...

Things have been very crazy around here lately which is why I haven't posted in a while. Last weekend we went to parents so that I could throw Nicole her bridal shower and bachelorette parties. Both went great. Alot of people showed up and they got some good things to put in their new condo. It was a busy weekend but we made it through.

Evelyn was a trooper. We were on the go so much that she was not able to nap well and was always entertained with what was going on around her that she didn't want to stop. She was great. She got to see a lot of family members that she has never met or does not see often so that was wonderful.

On our way back to Sacramento we (of course) had to stop at Olvera St. for some taquitos, yummmmmmy! We brought back some and finished them tonight. My dad bought Evelyn some maracas and a dress that is just too cute I will have to post a picture.

Other than that we are trying to settle back into daily life and trying to get ready for this next baby who is coming in about 12 weeks. OH MY GOODNESS!!!!

Enjoy the pictures.

PS. One of the pictures is Evelyn with a Jackoloupe she got from her great grandpa.

We officially have a toddler!!!

So I posted about how Evelyn took a few steps a couple of weeks ago. Well last night she was taking 5-8 at a time before falling which was a huge improvement. It was so cute to watch how proud she was of herself.

Well tonight she walked all the way from the tan recliner in the living room to Richard who was in the den. If you have ever been here you know that is quite the jaunt. It was probably 20-30 steps and boy was she ever proud. It was the cutest thing in the world watching her waddle down the hallway looking for her dad.

Happy Labor Day!

Almost Forgot...

Evelyn is on the path to walking by herself. She has taken 3 or so steps independently but can walk across the room holding on to one finger. She is standing for longer periods of time and is gaining more confidence. I must admit she is a darn cute walker. We will get her on video when she is walking more.

Good Night.

Great Weekend!

We had a great weekend. Saturday we had some really good friends over for a BBQ and swimming. They have a 16 month old little boy that Evelyn LOVES playing with and spending time with. The kids were great and had a good time in the water.

Evelyn was beat and took a late nap so her bedtime was a little later than normal but that is to be expected. We really enjoyed spending time with our friends and hope we can do it more often.

Sunday, we ran some errands and then went to a movie. Mark and Cheryl offered to watch Evelyn for us while we went. We went and saw Batman The Dark Knight. Oh My Goodness.... it was soooooooooo good. We were talking about it all night long. I am really glad that we were able to go and see it in the theatre. Thank you Mark and Cheryl for watching Evelyn. Evelyn was great for them and enjoyed spending time with her Aunt, Uncle and cousins. It was nice for Richard and I to get out for a little bit by ourselves, hold hands and be a couple for an afternoon.

I hope that everyone else had an enjoyable weekend.

My Birthday Weekend

Thank you to everyone that called, emailed or posted a comment saying Happy Birthday.

I had a great birthday weekend spending most of it with Evelyn and Richard. Friday, I took Evelyn and Lavon to have lunch with Richard. It was great and Evelyn was really good. I don't get to have lunch with him often so this was a nice treat.

Friday night was bunco and I went. Richard gave me a hard time for being away from Evelyn but of course he was teasing. It was nice getting away and hanging out with friends.

Saturday we went to Denios which is a Farmers Market and Swap Meet. It was fun and I had never been. The weather was perfect. Evelyn was so tuckered she came home and slept for 2 1/2 hours. Richard and I relaxed and watched the Olympics. Saturday evening we got together with some friends and had dinner downtown. Every 2nd Saturday is an Art Walk and we had a blast. The kids were great and enjoyed all the people and music going on. I highly recommend going if you haven't yet.

Sunday we got together with Richard's family for ice cream at Leatherby's. It was SOOOOOO good. I got two scoops in a waffle and ate the whole darn thing. I think I gained 5lbs but it was so worth it.

It was nice having a weekend that we didn't worry about housework and could just spend time as a family and with family and friends. Housework can wait until next weekend or during the week. Family is important and we only have a few more months with just Evelyn so we are trying to enjoy every minute of our AMAZING girl.

Thank you again everyone for the birthday wishes.

One Year Dr. Appointment

Evelyn had her 1 year appointment this morning. She weighed in at... wait for it ... wait for it... 17lbs 5 oz. She is 29 inches tall. Her weight is still on the low side but she is still on her own curve so nothing to worry about. She is 50% for height so that is perfect. The doctor said she is doing well and to continue with what we are doing.

We also got the go ahead to start whole milk and wean from formula. So that will be started here shortly. She did get one shot but did very well. Hopefully she will do ok the rest of the day as well. Oh and we have to have blood drawn to test for iron defiency and lead.

Out little girl is growing up.

Evelyn's Birthday!

I cannot believe that our little baby girl is now officially a Toddler. She has grown and changed so much in the last year it is unbelieveable. She has changed our lives forever and has showed us parts of ourselves that even we did not know existed. Her party was a lot of fun and a bit overwhelming at times. She had a great time seeing everyone. She was not that into cake and hardly ate any of hers, but she did have fun opening presents. At the end of the party she was tuckered out and ready for a nap. Thanks to all those that could make it and hope to see everyone soon. I am posting a couple of the pictures from the party that turned out good. Enjoy!

Soccer Player

I believe we have a soccer player on our hands. This baby is SO active and is constantly kicking me. The baby kept me up for half an hour last night kicking and a couple of them startled me because they were so big. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE feeling the baby kick I just didn't think it would be so strong this early. One this is for sure is this baby is STRONG.

20 Week Ultrasound for Baby #2

Yesterday we had our 20 week ultrasound for baby #2 and it went great. The baby looks healthy and is growing well. We got some great pictures of it waving hi, with its mouth open and of its feet kicking. The baby was VERY active during the ultrasound, kicking wherever she had the wand. It was so wonderful to see the baby again. It looks so different but can definetly tell it is a baby. I know saying "it" is not as much fun as him or her but that is what it is at the moment. As most of you know, we are not finding out the gender just as we didn't with Evelyn. We LOVED the surprise and anticipation during labor. I am sure we will enjoy it again. Richard's guess is that it is a boy or a girl. Creative I think. I am leaning towards girl but who really knows? We shall se in about 20 weeks.

Other news, is we are gearing up for Evelyn's 1st birthday party in a couple of weeks. I have almost everything purchased other than food and the pool should be done this weekend. We are looking forward to seeing many of you there.

Happy Thursday! Here are a few pictures from yesterday.

It's Only Wednesday....

This has been a long week for me, with Richard out of town and Evelyn sick, I am exhausted. I miss my husband and am looking forward to seeing him Friday afternoon. It has been hard being the only one here with Evelyn. Since she is sick, I can't go anywhere or visit anyone becuase I don't want them to get sick. I know that he is learning a lot and it is great for his career. I am happy that he did it when I only have one kid and not two.

Evelyn is doing better. Her fever broke and she was more like herself today but still fussy. Last night she did great. She slept from 8:45 to 4:45. She woke up, ate and when back to sleep until 7:15. She barely does that good when she is well. I am not getting my hopes up and am preparing myself for a long night just in case she is still not feeling well.

It is so sad to see her sick and not feeling well. I feel horrible becuase there is nothing I can do but hold her and even then she is not always happy. I look forward to when she is feeling 100% again.

****As a note, I am no longer nursing Evelyn. I almost made it a year and would have if I wasn't pregnant, but I am proud of how long I did make it. She is doing great with the bottle and formula. She doesn't refuse unless she isn't hungry. It is sad that it is over but it is nice that other people can now feed her easier than before.

Thank you for all your support. Happy hump day.

Unchartered Territory!

For the first time since Evelyn was born she has a fever and/or is sick. Poor girl is hot and not feeling good. She has good moments and bad ones. She did great at my doctor appointment today and I am taking her to hers tomorrow.

For a baby that is sick, she sure did learn new things today. Today she learned to clap and give high fives. The high fives might be a fluke but I am saying she can do it.

Heres hoping tonight goes ok and that she feels better tomorrow.
